‘Team-Time’ Birthday News

Amidst the cakey aftermath that June brought us with 5 birthdays in the team, July is a little more sedate and allows us opportunity to exercise away our new-found ‘poundage’. Happy birthday to Hannah, our newest member of the sales team who celebrated on the 26th of July and to Jeremy in the kitchen who celebrated yesterday on the 28th! (Wonder if he made his own cake?…)

‘Griddle’ me this…

What is a honeymoon salad? (Answer: Lettuce Alone, little or no dressing.)

Send your guesses to Hannah@athomecatering.co.uk to get a shout out on our social media channels and in our next blog!

Bizarre Bites

Mmm, a nice hot bowl of soup. Soup is often an afterthought but there are few pleasures in life as good as a nice hot bowl of your favourite blend with a crusty loaf of bread. Next time you’re in the mood for a drop of the good stuff, why don’t you try this Chinese delicacy – Birds Nest Soup! As caterers and event planners, we see a lot of food, but even an image of this bizarre dish gets our stomachs moving. Made from the birds nests of swifts who make their humble abodes using their own saliva. Yep, bird spit soup – bon appetite!

  1. Lovely selection of menus.
The conservatory table setting is very beautiful.
I note one or two vegetarian items but not specifically a vegetarian menu; perhaps it might be possible to suggest an interresting vegetarian menu which avoids the time-honoured (read: boring) stand-bys of rice, pasta and pastry-heavy quiche.

  2. Thanks for your comment and enquiry about our vegetarian menus! It’s often a common pitfall that vegetarian food is sidelined and many dishes are loaded down with thick pastry and pasta as an easy option. Here are some dishes below to substitute bland veggie menus:

Butternut, beetroot and goats cheese salad with rocket & balsamic salad
    Courgette & tallegio frittata
    Watercress & brie puff tartlets

Sweet romano peppers stuffed with duo of cheese & cherry tomatoes
Aubergine wraps filled with Mediterranean vegetables & pear chutney
Halloumi kebabs with spicy mushroom & tomato salsa

    Sit Down Menu:

New season asparagus spears with truffle, poached duck egg & hollandaise sauce
Heritage tomato salad with burrata, tomato caramel, black olive crumb & tomato crisp

Thai red squash, spinach & coconut curry
Chestnut, spinach & blue cheese en croute

I hope this helps and if you’re in need of some of our superb vegetarian deli items, just give us a call to find out our selection!
